Got it wet? Here’s what to do.

The first few minutes matter more than anything we can do afterwards. Follow these steps, then get it to us as soon as you can.

Do this first.

  1. 01

    Switch it off

If it’s still on, turn it off straight away, or hold the power button down if it won’t respond normally. Don’t try to check if it still works.

  2. 02

    Leave it off

Don’t plug it in to charge, and don’t press any keys or buttons to test it. Power moving through a wet device is what causes the real damage.

  3. 03

    Dry the outside only

Pat it dry with a cloth or paper towel. Don’t open it up, shake it hard, or point compressed air into any ports, which can push liquid further in.

  4. 04

Get it to us as soon as you can

The sooner it’s checked and properly dried out, the better the chances. Don’t wait to see if it dries out on its own.

Don’t do this.

  • Rice

It doesn’t pull moisture out from inside the device, and grains can get into ports and fans.

  • A hairdryer or oven

Heat can warp plastic, damage the screen and battery, and push liquid further inside rather than out.

  • Turning it on to test it

This is the single biggest cause of permanent damage after a spill, because it lets power reach parts that are still wet.

  • Waiting a few days to see

Corrosion starts working on the internals from the moment it’s wet, especially if anything but plain water was involved.

What we can promise

An honest answer, not a guarantee.

Nobody can promise a fix on liquid damage before opening the device up. What we can promise is that we’ll tell you straight, try to save your data first, and never charge you for a repair we couldn’t complete.

  • Checked and diagnosed properly, not guessed
  • Data recovery attempted first, where possible
  • Nothing charged if we can’t fix it

Common questions.

Can you actually fix water damage?

Sometimes, but we won’t promise it before we’ve looked. We’ll open it up, dry and clean the internals properly, and tell you honestly what’s likely, including if it’s not.

What if you can’t fix it?

If we can’t fix the fault you brought it in for, you pay nothing for the repair. See our No fix, no fee page for the exceptions.

Will I lose my photos and data?

It depends how far the damage has gone. If the device still turns on, we’ll always try to get your data off first, before any other work, and tell you if that’s not possible.

Is liquid damage covered by the repair warranty?

No. A repair warranty covers the part and the work we did, not new liquid damage afterwards, or a device that came to us for liquid damage in the first place. See the warranty page for the full terms.

It’s been a few days already. Is it too late?

Bring it in anyway. It’s worse than coming straight away, but it’s not always too late, and it costs nothing to find out.

Every minute counts.

Message us now, or book it in and bring it straight over.
